Primary school
Lower primary (Grade 1 - Grade 3)
In our Lower Primary section at St. Philip Neri Primary School, we emphasise building strong foundational skills in alignment with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). The focus is on developing literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving abilities through engaging, hands-on learning activities. Our curriculum promotes digital literacy, offering students 16
sessions of computer education each week, where they begin to explore web development and other essential tech skills.
One of the major features in CBC is practical learning, and we ensure the implementation of this through agriculture and science projects, whereby students can think critically and in
application to real life. The Coding and Robotics club further nurtures creativity and teamwork, enabling students to explore innovative solutions for problems.
Besides academics, we are also focusing on the holistic development of the children by providing various extracurricular activities, including music, athletics, and sports, such as chess, soccer, and athletics. It isthrough this balanced approach that we can be assured our students will develop academically and socially while being properly grounded for future educational pursuits.
Upper primary (Grade 4 - Grade 6)
In our Upper Primary section , we continue to build on the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) with a focus on more advanced skill development and practicallearning. Students engage in a deeper exploration of core subjects like mathematics, science, and languages while being encouraged to apply their knowledge through
project-based learning.
Technology integration remains a priority, with 16 sessions of computer education weekly, including web development and more advanced digital literacy skills. Our coding and robotics club remainscentral to developing innovation and critical thinking among students, helping them creatively solve some complex problems.
Practical, hands-on learning is also focused on agriculture and science projects that ensure students apply their classroom knowledge in real-life situations. Other extracurricular
activities that have continued to enrich the learning experience include music, athletics, and various sports such as soccer, chess, and athletics, instilling leadership, team building, and developing talents.
The Upper Primary program will go a long way in ensuring that students are prepared not only foracademic excellence but also to develop life skills and character, the foundation of which was laid during their transition to Junior Secondary.
